Amateur Photography

Last week we went to a photographer in Hamilton to get Avery's photos done and Avery had a great time posing. This week she threw up on our comforter cover so while it was at the dry cleaners I took the opportunity to pretend I had a photo studio and have a photo session of my own. I also remember that my friend Christine Peesker did this with her son and the photos were great so I ripped off her idea. The pics turned out pretty well so enjoy the show.

More of Avery in Action

I don't have any new photos since yesterday so I am posting some of these close ups just for fun. The main reason I am adding a new posting is to tell you that I uploaded 4 new videos onto the Vimeo website (just click on the Avery on Video link) including a clip of her sort of laughing. She had a good day today despite me dragging her to stroller fitness class, the well baby clinic and a new 'Circle of Friends' playgroup we started today. Right now she is sleeping like an angel.
Enjoy the videos.

The Latest Word

Well there is not too much exciting to report. When you do so much travelling in the beginning, everything else just seems anticlimatic. Avery is doing well as clearly seen in the first very smiley photo. She seems pretty happy and content only eating every 4 hours. It is amazing how much more time there seems to be in a day once you do not have a small child attached to your boob every 4 hours. The latest events include a photo session with Melanie Gillis (thank you Mom for the gift certificate) . The session was amazing Melanie is very talented and Avery was in great form. I can hardly wait to see the photos but I have to wait a couple of weeks until she mails me the proofs. Craig and I made the brave step of leaving Avery with a teenaged babysitter so we could go and see The DaVinci Code with Cam and Kelly. Fortunately everything went smoothly. We were a bit worried because she has been teething lately and has been more prone to waking up at unusual times and giving her lungs a good workout. You can see her chewing on a medicine dropper in the last photo. Also Avery is more in love with her Dad these days which makes Craig very happy. You can see in the third photo how fascinating she finds him. I caught him practicing his guitar playing skills the other night so he can start to serenade her. It's pretty fun to watch.
That's all for now, hope you enjoy the new photos.

The Photo Session

Here are the photos we had taken of the munchkins this weekend. They turned out okay but Brianna and I both felt the photographer missed some of the best photo opportunities. Oh well, we will try again. Callum had some solo photos done but Avery's god mood did not last long enough for her to get her own pics done. I don't think it helped that at one point she rolled off the pillows and hit her head on the floor. Strangely enough the down comforter on top of the concrete did not cushion the blow all that much. So Grandma and Grandpa McGuire arrived last night and and Grandpa was happy to give her a bottle and Grandma got to burp her and put her down. Unfortunately it is raining so Grandpa can't take her on a 3 hour walk like he planned. Maybe this afternoon...

Mother's Day Weekend

We had a very lovely weekend this past weekend. Brianna, Graham and Callum came to visit. We cashed in our Christmas present of a "Date Night" for Craig and I on Friday night. We ate a fabulous dinner prepared by Brianna and Graham and then went out for dessert and a movie while they babysat Avery. The best part was when we came home and Brianna shared with us that the reason Avery started crying as we were leaving was that she had a massive poop but not all at once so Brianna went through 4 diapers before the whole procedure was finished. The love fest between Callum and Avery continued although it does not look like that in the first photo. Actually Callum is just learning to give kisses and he enjoyed giving them to Avery. (he also still likes to try to gouge her eyes out)
Avery continued her streak of not being on her best behaviour when Brianna is near her (Friday night was a bit rough) but it is gradually improving. Brianna thinks her interrupted sleep and tears can be attributed to teething, I am still pretty sure it is Brianna's fault. Meghan was kind enough to remind Brianna that Avery was fine with her so it doesn't seem to be Aunties that Avery has an issue with. Thanks for that Meghan.
Oh I also posted another video so click on the link if you want to see the latest. I will try to be better with the videos.

This is my Mother's Day present from Avery and Craig. It is going to look great in the garden. I also got a wonderful breakfast prepared for me once I went back to bed after feeding the munchkin.

This is one of my favourite photos so far. Craig is overjoyed because the past couple of days Avery has stopped turning her face away when he tries to kiss her and she will even let him kiss her on the lips. Posted by Picasa

Life is more quiet now

Hi Everyone,
Things have really settled down lately. We have been at home for over a week straight. It is starting to pay off too. Avery is back sleeping through the night most of the time and she is generally very happy. We started an Infant Massage class last Friday and Avery loved all the other babies in the class. She was very vocal during the class and seemed to like the massage as well. She also made her mom and dad very happy because she finally laughed. It was small but she has done it once a day for the past 3 days in a row. I think that is all for now because Craig is standing over me and wants me to help him build the doors of the built-ins - that's right the built in's. He has been busy today and I don't want him to lose momentum!
