Our First Ski Weekend

In March we had our first McGuire ski weekend at Blue Mountain with the little kids. Unfortunately, Craig missed it but don't feel too sorry for him as he ended up skiing in Calgary for a couple of days. I want to say a special thanks to Lisa Adkins who outfitted Avery in ski gear for the weekend - she loved the helmet and googles. It was a great weekend - the kids loved skiing and it was so much fun to watch them pick a new skill and take off with it. There were a few tears at the beginning when she fell but by the end of the second day she was skiing from the top to the bottom (with a tether on to slow her down during the steeper parts) completely fearless and loving every minute of it. She could have skied all night. Brianna and I talked about how much fun it is going to be in the future going on big family ski trips.
The only blemish for the weekend was that McKinley was jumping on the couch and just before Grandma McGuire could put Finley down and tell Muddy to cool it he managed to fall and hit his mouth on the edge of the coffee table. Although his front 4 top teeth were obviously pushed back and displaced they weren't actually loose until a couple of days later when McKinley somehow managed to hit his mouth again on a car at daycare and knock one of them loose. So the next day we had to visit the dentist and get 2 teeth pulled. He is still at risk for losing another 2 but we have to go back for x-rays in the middle of May. So now he looks even more goofy than usual.

Post Party Fun

After the birthday party the kids could run around and play in the museum so they had a great time playing in the museum. Avery was tickled to see her name out on the sign wishing her happy birthday.

Fun and games

The kids got to play duck, duck goose on a very slippery floor so that was interesting. Then the last shot is Avery holding court while she opens her gifts.

We love cupcakes!

Avery blows out the candles and then gets to decorating while Muddy tries to figure out where to start eating. He chose from the top down as usual.

Avery's Birthday Party with friends

Hi Strangers,
I am back again after a significant hiatus. Thanks to those who gently encouraged me to get my butt in gear again. There is justification for my time away and it includes such events such as a trip to Vancouver to visit Meghan, Mark and Hadley for the first week of the Olympics (fantastic), trying to finish the photobook I make for the grandparents every year (almost there) the death of my Grandma Beth after being ill for a couple of weeks (we miss her), toilet training McKinley (he is doing well...now) among other of life's little challenges. I don't have to tell everyone how busy life is sometimes but I always like to be reminded that people are still crazy enough to be interested in my darling children and to encourage me to share our photos with everyone. I have also recently joined Facebook - it doesn't seem to be fading away so I thought I would finally see what all the fuss was about, I have to admit that I am still wondering about the fuss so if you are reading this feel free to add me as a friend so I will think Facebook is the best invention ever.
So anyways back to the photos...this is Avery's 4th birthday party at the London Children's Museum. She had 10 friends and family there and they had a great time. Avery loved the attention she true thrives being in the centre of things. The gift opening was my favourite when she was sitting in a chair and everyone else was on the floor and she kept telling everyone (in her best teacher voice) to scootch back so she had room to open her present.
