Will the photos from Vancouver ever end

Probably not since we took so many. So the info on these photo... the first three were taken on Galiano Island when we went to visit a high school friend of Craig's. We had a great time with Angela and Odin and her 2 boys Sage and Cedar. The first photo shows Craig dipping Avery's feet in the ocean for the first time. It was freezing and her toes turned red but she didn't even flinch, cry or change expression. In the next photo you can see that she is so relaxed in the backpack she can fall right asleep. The third picture show Craig and Avery with Angela and her family.
The last photo of Avery was taken by Meghan on our way to Skagway, Alaska. It is very artistic.

We Are On Hiatus Again

Just a quick note to let you know we are heading up to the cottage for a week of R&R. Maternity leave really is a marvelous invention. We will be back after the August long weekend and I promise so have some good photos and maybe even video for you.

Vancouver Continues

The best thing about going on vacation is that I can milk the photos for multiple blog postings. I can only post 4 pics at a time so that means many postings from Vancouver. The first photo is taken on Granville Island - what a great skyline. The second photo is Craig crapping his pants while walking along a suspension bridge in Lynn Valley while Avery looks unconcerned. The third photo continues our obsession with super close ups of her face and the fourth is where we stopped for a break during our hike. All in all it was a great day.

Double Take!

I know I have posted one of these photos before but I thought everyone might enjoy trying to guess which photo is of me and which is of Avery. I was convinced she got her eyebrows from Craig but now I am not so sure!

Quality Time with Mom and Dad

Here are a few more shots from our vacation. Avery had lots of quality time with her Dad and they both loved every minute of it. As you can see in the second photo, our B&B did not have a bathtub, only a shower stall so Avery enjoyed her baths in the kitchen sink. Since she was sitting up she realized she could make lots of splashes with her hands. The last photo shows us walking the seawall at Stanley Park. We are pretty sure it was the sea air that made her hair almost double in thickness while we were there.

First Highlights From Vancouver

Hello Everyone, we are home safe and sound. It has taken me a few days to make it to the computer to send you an update. The vacation was wonderful. Vancouver is a great city. Avery was unbelievable during the entire vacation. She barely cried, was happy, easy going and fun to play with the entire time. Everyone enjoyed her in Whitehorse. She was passed around quite a bit and did not seem to mind. Meghan and Mark's wedding was wonderful. It turned out just the way they wanted it to and everyone had a great time. These first set of photos are from our inital visit to Stanley Park. Craig thinks it is very important to air out her bottom. Fortunately, she liked being in the backpack because we went on several walks with her back there. I will try to post some more pictures tomorrow.

The Solids Have Started

No I am not talking about bowel movements - although I hear it is only a matter of time - we started feeding Avery some rice cereal on the weekend. Like a true McGuire she had no difficulty eating. She doesn't quite fill out her high chair yet but she seems to like it so far. She was excited that her Grandma Adkins dropped by today at just the right time so she could feed her lunch. Grandma's have instincts for that sort of thing. So now the feeding fun begins.

Yet Another Assault By Callum Caught on Film

Callum is starting to learn the meaning of the word gentle but he still gets pretty excited when Avery is around and just can't resist mauling her. Fortunately she is starting to anticipate this and has been known to go on an eye gauging attack. I decided to get my own revenge by adding another posting to Callum's blog. Feel free to click on the link to check it out.
Actually the two babies are genuinely fascinated with each other and I am planning on adding a video of them making out. I am pretty sure there was tongue involved too.

Break is finally over!

I know, I know, I have been slacking off with the postings lately. I apologize for this and I will adding lots of photos and a few videos to make up for it. Avery has been a complete angel lately, lots of smiles, rarely crying, sleeping well and playing fairly independently. I swear her motor skills get better every day. We are getting ready to leave for Vancouver and Whitehorse this weekend so this will be the last few postings for awhile. I will probably add a few photos once we get to Whitehorse and I get access to Meghan and Mark's computer.
As you can see by the second photo we are trying to cultivate her musical skills, not just her athletic ability. The last 2 photos were taken today. This is how I found her in her crib at the end of her nap. As you can see she is starting to move around a lot more. I know when the music from the aquarium starts turning on and off I have to go and reposition her.
She is cracking me up these days.

Getting Stronger

Check out that arm strength. She is getting stronger all the time. I am just about to load up the videos of her in the Jolly Jumper, rolling over onto her her stomach and again sort of a laugh.
Hope you enjoy them.

Jolly Jumping a Jig

Our friends Jim and Kristi loaned us their Jolly Jumper so Avery had a chance to hang out and jump around. She seems to be a big fan of this new apparatus so far. Even though Auntie Brianna says Jolly Jumpers are not recommended. We have decided to ignore her because Avery has so much fun. There are many new noises and movements when she is in the jumper. I have some video footage of her in the Jolly Jumper and rolling over but I can't upload it because the website is under construction. Check the video sight early next week and hopefully I will be able to post it then.

Staying Hydrated

Here is Avery trying to stay cool on a hot day by drinking from a cup. Apparantly they can also be used as a teething toy.
The last photo shows Avery Jules with her namesake, her Great Aunt Julie. She came up for a visit to see Avery in action and to help us with our garden. Thanks Julie.
