Avery Goes Swimming!

Today's activity was swimming for Avery. She handled the water pretty well. Mostly she looked at us like "What the hell are you doing to me?" She didn't cry or even poop her little swimming diaper. Meghan's friend Jen loaned us a swimsuit that was way too big but we thought she looked so good in it we kept it on her anyways. Enjoy the photos!

A Cloudy Drive to Skagway

Well, yesterday Avery added BC and Alaska to the list of destinations she has visited. It was a stunning drive to Skagway, gorgeous scenery. It would have been even better if it was bright and sunny like every other day we have had in the Yukon. The town was fairly deserted but we managed to find some stores open and scored some good deals. Avery once again travelled like a star (thank god).

Walking in the great outdoors

Another beautiful day in the Yukon so we went for a walk out to a frozen waterfall. Avery seemed to enjoy it despite the fact that she looked like Maggie Simpson in her snowsuit. She continues to be on her best behaviour and enjoying her time with Meghan and Mark. She does miss her Dad but I think he is missing her more. Today we are off to Skagway and then for a sushi dinner to friends of Meghan and Mark. Gotta run.

Avery in Action

So I am getting really high tech now thanks to Meghan and Mark's friend Dave. If you look to the left under the links you will see an Avery on Video link. If you click on that it will take you to a website and you can view some short videos of Avery. I have 2 videos there so far. The other option is to go to this website http://vimeo.com/user=csadkins/ and that is where the videos are. We look forward to your comments, keep them coming!
I will be posting more Yukon photos shortly.
(Craig - sorry it took me so long to get this done)

Tales from Whitehorse

We're back with more great photos from Whitehorse. Meghan and Mark have been enjoying spending time with their niece. They tell me that she gets cuter by the day. Carl and Kitty are adapting well to Avery although Carl is not so fond of her crying. I can't blame him really. We have been keeping busy so far with a variety of different activities. These include a craft show, National short track speed skating competition, an hour and a half walk into town and sleeping through games of Settler's of Catan. There are many other outings on the agenda and we will keep you updated. I have to go now the baby needs to be fed and we are having a potluck of stuff food.

Some photos from the Yukon

Well we have arrived in the Yukon safe and sound. Avery travelled fairly well on the plane. She had some trouble when descending on 2 of the plane rides but otherwise was a trooper. She has been a ray of sunshine since arriving in the Yukon. Much happier than she was during her overnight stay in Edmonton where she visited with Mark and Jill. She enjoyed treking through the West Edmonton Mall, sleeping soundly for most of it. It was great to see Mark and Jill, they are looking forward to moving into their new house in about 6 weeks and so far construction is going well.
I have more photos to add so I am going to start another entry.

Some extra photos from Cleveland

Here is Avery playing with toys with a very intense look of concentration on her face.
And here she is in pink! and a skirt! Her dad was appalled but I love the 'sassy' outfit that aunt Brianna bought her. Posted by Picasa

Home from Cleveland

Well, Avery in now an international traveller. She headed down to Cleveland to visit her great grandparents and great aunts and uncle and her cousins. She was accompanied by Aunt Brianna, Uncle Graham and Callum. She was a big hit and had a good time visiting everyone. Both the babies did well on the long car ride. Avery was boring and slept most of the way but Callum was entertaining. Craig and Graham spent the entire time renovating Aunt Julie's kitchen and Brianna and I visited and did some shopping. Our favourite shopping was at Aunt Laurie's house where Brianna and I each walked away with a huge bag of clothes for the kids, and you just can't beat her prices. We also managed to stuff a couple of toys that Laurie was giving away in the van to take home. Avery is starting to have fun batting at objects with her hands and to grab onto things. So we took home a cart that she lies under and plays with hanging objects and depending on what one she hits it will play music. She will lie there for up to an hour batting away. Thanks Laurie!
So now we are home and trying to find space for all the clothes we brought home and starting to make a new list for what to pack to take to Whitehorse to visit with Auntie Meghan and Uncle Mark. I am hoping she travels well on the plane because she can be pretty noisy when she is crying. Craig and I are doing well. Craig has had a few opportunites to 'parent' independently while I have been at a cake decorating class or playing in a fun indoor beach volleyball tournament and he has managed with flying colours. He is not looking forward to being on his own for 2 weeks while we are up north but we have the webcams and Skype set up so he can keep tabs on how she is doing.
I hope you enjoy the blog and all the photos. Let me know in your comments if there is anything you want to know.

Here is a photo of Avery taken today. As you can see her face is filling out at a rapid pace. The smile only makes her cheeks look even bigger. I also like that this photo shows the twinkle in her eyes. Posted by Picasa

Hi Everyone,
Well there are so many great photos of Avery we thought the best way to share them would be a blog. So this is my first attempt at the new fangled, high tech world of blogging.
Everything is going well with Avery. She is now 2 months and one day old. We took a trip to the pediatrician today and she is now 10 lbs and 9 oz. According to him she is well ahead of the game. She had to go to the doctor so he could remove a granuloma on her belly button. Now she will have an 'innie' and will be ready for her bikini when the weather warms up.
Avery is getting more fun and brighter every day. She is generous with her smiles and has recently started doing some cardiovascular exercise. Basically, she lies on her back and pretends she is running while maniacally waving her arms. It is pretty hysterical. She is desperately trying to be like her cousin Callum in the barfing department and she does a pretty good job. She likes to mix it up though and she will throw up undigested breast milk (usually in a projectile fashion) or a lovely cottage cheese mixture (I assume this is partially digested). I have admitted defeat and been to the store twice to purchase more bibs.
That is all for my first attempt but I will keep you posted.
